Easily one of the most popular Wuyi Mountain cultivars for the past decade, Rougui is a truly stunning variety, highlighting everything we love about oolongs from this region. This revered cultivar offers exceptional balance and aromatic complexity, with its creamy mouthfeel and deep, roasted richness punctuated by the distinct finish of warm spices for which this variety is named (rougui means "cinnamon" in Chinese).
Our Heritage Rougui is grown in the heart of the Wuyi Mountains' Zhengyan district (benefitting from the mineral-rich soil and shady ravines of this coveted terroir), then roasted in the traditional style over longan fruitwood charcoal. The resulting infusion is simply delicious, with notes of chocolate, toffee, whiskey casks, dried fruit, and cozy cinnamon. For Wuyi Oolong lovers, this tea is not to be missed.
