The successor to our wildly popular Jingdezhen Summer Gaiwan, our new Summer Gaiwan is handcrafted in Dehua, Fujian from paper-thin, high-fired porcelain. Finished with a thin, hand-painted cerulean line along the rims of the lid, body, and saucer, this elegant vessel pays modern tribute to the famed "blue and white" qinghua porcelain style of the Ming Dynasty.
The pure white porcelain provides an ideal visual background for appreciating tea, while the masterful thinness of the material offers a wonderfully precise pour. A sibling to our more angular Spring Gaiwan, the Summer version is lower and more rounded, presenting a slightly more casual silhouette. The vessel's foot nestles perfectly into the well-proportioned saucer beneath.
