Harvested at 1025 meters (3300 feet) above sea level from an organic tea farm near Hangzhou, this classic Chinese green tea uses a bud-and-leaf picking standard. After harvesting, the tender spring leaves are gently roasted to accentuate their natural sweetness.

This 'purple bamboo' variety, named for the finished tea's resemblance to long, narrow bamboo leaves, has been a popular choice in China since the Tang Dynasty, when it first earned renown as a tribute tea. Today, though crafting styles have evolved, this tea has retained a reputation for excellence. This year's harvest yields a bright, clear brew with a fleeting note of roasted richness and a creamy texture that lingers on the palate.

  • Brewing Guide

The combination of a high elevation tea garden and an early harvest leaf help to slow the growth of these budding leaves and ensure a smooth, forgiving brew no matter what your method. Start with the instructions below for a subtle, sweet brew, or extend your steeping time for bolder notes of roasted spring vegetables.
We recommend beginning with a 1 minute steep and add 10 seconds for each subsequent re-infusion.
